Before becoming fromtheslumb.com, I was able to interview LoThraxx back in March for the first time which you may view here. Below, checkout his newest freestyle and our 2nd run in. Dope'ness.
Thraxx: Man coolin, just tryna stay on top of shit. Staying focu$ed G 4real
FTS: Cool cool, so have there been any major changes since we last spoke in March?
Thraxx: Yeah I been talking to a few labels lately and getting more serious with shit really. Tryna put on for my state on some "now or neva" type shit. But I think indie is where it's at $$$.
FTS: Yea that indie bread keeping a couple niggas afloat. Now I've been keeping up with you ever since u were in preparation for the release of "Highlight Reel", & I've noticed a significant amount of improvement in your whole approach towards the music and your wordplay. Have you had that moment yet where you just sit there & surprise yourself while listening to your material?
Thraxx: Word word, usually when I listen to some old shit I be like "daaaamn I said that shit?!" But with new shit it is what it is. It's just what I'm on. I'm not surprised at all. It's when it gets older I be like damn I was on some cold shit at that time lol. But I always look to improve. I'm never satisfied and my mind is always on top of shit.
FTS: Yea i feel you on that one. So whatt are your thoughts on Jay's MCHG? Best album yet?
Thraxx: I dig it, can't een stunt lol. The beats were next level 4real. Typical Jay shit...he a pioneer to me. I'm a young nigga I road around with pops bumpin blue print...(my dads next to me I had to ask him what that shit was we listened to. Hahaha)
FTS: lol yea that Jay catch a young nigga ear even if you don't understand the words. But from what I understand you aspire to work with people such as Yè, K.R.I.T, Lex Luger, & more. How close do you think you are to having such opportunities?
Thraxx: Idek honestly, somebody need to tell them niggas to get on this wave tho ace fuckin sap .
FTS: Lol, everybody'll wake up soon enough G. What are your thoughts on the current state of the Hip Hop scene?
Thraxx: It's dry to me right now...that's why I'm really pushing this POY tape...niggas need it.
FTS: If you could paint a picture of what POY sounds like, what would the painting's description?
Thraxx: It would be like a nude of Aliyah wearing some flu games drinking Crystal laid up in a hammock .
FTS: Lol word dope shit homes. Now as we all know, some artists have that one project that stands out above them all. One that instantly comes to mind is Wiz's Kush & OJ. Can you picture this maybe being your "stand out" body of work?
Thraxx: Most definitely...i took sooo much time to craft this shit...it's crazy. But wait till I start collabing with super producers smh...it will be even crazier G..but this POY is definitely next level from every direction.
FTS: So once POY has blessed the streets, what's next for LoThraxx? Upcoming performances?
Thraxx: Hopefully we can hit the road and just get this sound out and everywhere .
FTS: Aw ok definitely man. Try to set some shit up where you can get out here in the boot man. But yo thanks for linking back up with me & I'm anxious about the release of the tape & seeing the feedback it's gonna receive. You got any last words for the people? Anybody you wanna give shouts out too?
Thraxx: Player of the year , hosted by Dj Discipline and Dj Dow Jones drops July 23rd on LiveMixtapes.com and lothraxx.com. The team. The state. And to "From The slumbs" for always showing love. Touchdown type shit..
